Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM's) have devised marketing schemes that prevent you from using the supplies of your choice. Some, such as Lexmark, have placed "killer chips" in their cartridges that shut down the machine if a remanufactured toner cartridge is installed. In the United States alone, our industry represents 6000 remanufacturing companies, which employ 33,650 people., Each year, 37,771 tons of waste are kept out of landfills due to the remanufacturing of toner cartridges.
Remanufacuring creates jobs, reduces waste and according to the EPA is the highest form of recycling as it requires the least amount of energy to make a product ready for reuse.
